Spot Launcher
Terms of Use.

Effective date: November 2, 2026
These Terms of Use concern Spot Launcher, an Android launcher offered by 16 Bit Bytes LLC (“16 Bit Bytes,” “we,” or “us”). Your rights under applicable consumer protection law are not affected.
Using Spot Launcher
Spot Launcher is an Android home screen app. Depending on your device and the choices you make, features may include an app ring, an app drawer, widgets, calendar information, a notification badge, feeds you add, offline city lookup, and weather. Optional features stay off until you turn them on. Current location is optional, approximate, and foreground only. You can choose a city or town, or enter coordinates, instead. Do not use Spot Launcher or its weather display as an emergency service or as the sole basis for safety-critical decisions. Check authoritative sources for conditions that affect safety.
If you create a backup, keep it secure. The file is plain text and holds your app list, ring, drawer, hidden apps, custom app names, folders, apps and shortcuts on Home, widgets layout, feeds, and settings. Widget stacks, other apps' widgets, and your trial and purchase state are not included. Settings include the location mode, coordinates you typed in (with their label and time zone), per-widget weather options, the animation switch, and the "touch and hold opens menu" switch. The current-location fix isn't included. You save it wherever you choose, for example Drive or Downloads, and Spot Launcher doesn't send it anywhere.
Third-party services and information
When weather is on, the chosen place's latitude and longitude are sent to MET Norway (api.met.no), cut to 4 decimal places before sending, over HTTPS only. Current location is already rounded to about 1 km; a city or coordinates you enter are sent to about 11 m. When Weather alerts are on, the U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) gets the same coordinates for any place, including places outside the U.S.; it only has alerts for U.S. areas.
In Current location mode, Spot Launcher uses Android's platform geocoder to get a place name. On most phones that geocoder is backed by Google Play services, which may send the coordinates to the platform provider (for example Google). A feed you add is requested directly from the sites and servers it points to. Availability, accuracy, and terms for these services are controlled by their providers. The Spot Launcher Privacy Policy describes the app's information practices.
Trial and purchase (Google Play Billing)
Spot Launcher includes a free 7-day full-feature trial. After the trial, Spot Unlock is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (product spot_full_unlock) for US $4.99; Google Play shows the price in your local currency. There are no subscriptions or other purchases, and no ads.
Without Spot Unlock, Home, the app drawer, apps and shortcuts on Home, the Clock widget, 3 apps in the ring, and the folders you already have keep working. Spot Unlock adds the other widgets, making and changing folders, widget stacks, the Night and Day looks and accent colors, more than 3 ring apps (up to 8), and extras such as Color weather art, glow, icon packs and Show my wallpaper. Your setup is saved and comes back as it was when you unlock.
Purchases are made through Google Play Billing, and Google processes the payment under the Google Play terms. We receive no card or other payment data. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy; you can request one through Google Play. If a purchase is refunded or revoked by Google Play, Spot Unlock ends once Google Play confirms it. Your purchase is tied to your Google account, and you can restore it on another device with the Restore purchase button in Spot Launcher under Settings → Spot Unlock.

When you get Spot Launcher through Google Play, Google's terms govern your use of Google Play. Features may change between versions.
